浙江省皮革行业协会成立于1994年9月16日，是以我省行业已形成的皮革产业体系包括制革、毛皮、革皮服装、制鞋、皮件（皮具）和皮革化工、皮革机械、皮革五金、鞋用材料企业为基础，由从事皮革行业产业经营的企事业单位、大专院校、科研单位组成的跨地区、跨部门、不分经济性质的全省行业组织，具有独立的社团法人地位。现有团体会员326家，代表着全行业近百万职工，会员企业的经济总量已达到全行业规模以上企业的70%以上，并设有制革、皮鞋、皮件和鞋类出口四个专委员会。

协会坚持“三个代表”思想，按照省经贸的部署，求真务实、开拓创新，坚持“协会的生命在于活动，协会的功能在于服务”的宗旨，积极做好为政府、为企业服务的工作，在开展国内外经济合作、技术咨询、应对反倾销等各种贸易壁垒、实施品牌战略促进行业可持续发展等方面发挥作用，赢得了政府和企业的广泛认可，不仅受到浙江省经贸委的表彰，还先被浙江省人事厅、民政厅评为浙江省优秀社团，被中国皮革协会评为全国先进皮革行业协会，被国家民政部评为“全国先进民间组织”。
